On-Site Dispensing for Veterinary Products

We maintain an on-site supply of veterinary products to support your pet’s ongoing care needs. Products available include flea, tick, and parasite preventives, post-operative care supplies, nutritional support products, and veterinary-grade topicals. Having products available at the clinic means you leave your appointment fully equipped for your pet’s care, without the need for a separate pickup. Our team will walk you through any product provided, including how to administer it, what to watch for, and when to follow up. We are happy to answer any questions about your pet’s product regimen at any visit.

Veterinary Supplements and Products

Nutritional supplements and veterinary products can play a supporting role in managing joint health, skin and coat condition, gastrointestinal support, immune function, and more. At Edmonds St. Animal Hospital, we stock a selection of veterinary-grade supplements recommended and assessed by Dr. Maan. We do not recommend supplements based on marketing alone. Each recommendation is made based on your pet’s specific health needs, and we review the evidence behind each product we carry. If you have questions about supplements your pet is currently taking or products you have seen advertised, bring them up at your next visit. We are happy to provide an honest assessment.

IV Fluid Support for Dogs and Cats

Intravenous fluid support is an important part of care for pets that are dehydrated, in recovery from surgery, experiencing kidney stress, or requiring fluid support during an illness episode. IV fluids help maintain blood pressure, support kidney function, restore electrolyte balance, and aid recovery. Fluid support is administered in-clinic under Dr. Maan’s supervision and is available for patients undergoing surgical procedures, patients presenting with significant dehydration, and patients receiving care for acute illness. Subcutaneous fluid support is also available for certain patients, including cats with kidney disease who benefit from regular at-home fluid supplementation, and we can instruct owners on how to administer this safely at home if indicated.

In-House Glucose Testing

Blood glucose monitoring is an important tool for managing diabetic dogs and cats and for assessing patients presenting with symptoms of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. We perform in-house glucose testing using point-of-care equipment for fast, same-appointment results. For diabetic pets on ongoing management plans, glucose testing is used to assess how well their current plan is working and to guide any adjustments. We also perform glucose testing as part of pre-anesthetic assessment, wellness panels for senior pets, and workups for pets showing signs of metabolic change.

Veterinary Specialist Referrals

General practice veterinary care addresses the great majority of what your pet needs throughout their life. There are situations, however, where a board-certified specialist’s expertise is the best next step. Dr. Maan provides coordinated referrals to board-certified veterinary specialists in areas including oncology, cardiology, internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, and surgery when a complex condition warrants specialized assessment or intervention. We communicate directly with the specialist on your behalf, share your pet’s full history, and remain involved in their care throughout the referral process. Our goal is to ensure continuity of care so your pet is never without a coordinating vet who knows their full health picture.

FAQ

Can I pick up veterinary products at the clinic without an appointment?
Yes. For products your pet is already using and that do not require an updated assessment, you can often pick them up at the front desk. Call ahead to confirm availability and let us know what you need. Certain products may require a recent exam before we can provide them.
IV fluid support is recommended for pets undergoing general anesthesia, patients presenting with moderate to severe dehydration, pets with acute kidney concerns, and patients recovering from significant illness. Dr. Maan will recommend fluids as part of your pet’s care plan when clinically appropriate.
When Dr. Maan determines that a specialist consultation would benefit your pet, he provides a referral including your pet’s full medical history and relevant diagnostic results. We help coordinate the appointment and remain your primary vet throughout the process. You do not lose continuity of care when a referral is made.
